Front Raise - Cables

Before starting the exercise select either the narrow grip handle or, as we have in the video, two separate single handles. Do not use the straight bar as it is very important that your hands remain in the "hammer grip" fashion throughout the exercise.

Stand with your knees slightly bent, an upright posture, arms shoulder width apart and slightly in front. Keep your wrists straight and your palms facing towards each other.

Now slowly raise your arms upwards in front of your body keeping your palms facing each other, when your hands reach shoulder height stop and slowly lower the handles back down to your side.

Do's Don'ts
  • Do use the appropriate grip and handle
  • Do breathe out on the way up and in on the way down
  • Do have a slight bend in your elbow
  • Do only go as high as shoulder level
  • Do keep your stomach tight
  • Do keep the movement slow and controlled
  • Don't hold your breath
  • Don't swing your body or arms
  • Don't arch your back to aid the movement
  • Don't drop your arms back down to your side
