What weight to choose

Bent Over Row - Barbell

Bend your knees and keep your back straight to pick up the barbell. Hold the barbell with your hands shoulder width apart and your palms facing towards you.

Stand up straight bend your knees slightly and lean forwards from the hips maintaining a straight back.

Bring the weight up your thighs leading the movement with your elbows. Keep your arms tight against your body throughout the movement. At the highest point squeeze your shoulder blades together.

Once your elbows are as high as you can get them slowly lower your arms back down until they are straight.


Do's Don'ts
  • Do keep your stomach tight
  • Do keep your back straight
  • Do breathe out on the way up and in on the way down
  • Do keep your arms close to your body
  • Do squeeze your shoulder blades together at the highest point
  • Do have a slight bend in your knees
  • Don't arch or curve your back
  • Don't hold your breath
  • Don't swing the barbell up
  • Don't drop the weight back down
