Crunch - Legs Raised

Lie down on your back with your legs up in the air so that they are vertical and hold them there for the entire exercise. Place your hands by your temples and concentrate on a spot above you on the ceiling.

Now raise your head and shoulders up off the floor by contracting your stomach muscles, allowing your head to drop back a little so that you don't lose sight of the spot you picked on the ceiling.

Once your shoulder blades are off the ground then slowly lower yourself back down again.

Do's Don'ts
  • Do keep your stomach tight
  • Do breathe out on the way up
  • Do make sure your shoulder blades come off the floor
  • Do allow your head to tilt back slightly on the way up
  • Do keep your legs vertical throughout the exercise
  • Don't hold or pull on your head to aid the movement
  • Don't hold your breath
  • Don't arch your back
  • Don't allow your head to move too much
  • Don't let your legs go less than vertical
